Castilla y León Accounting Council

Modernist-style building in the city center.

Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it combines in an extraordinary way the structure and harmony of the neoclassical style with the ornamentation it exhibits on its balconies and galleries, with lintels with modernist touches that give it a somewhat bourgeois appearance. This building, work of the architect Jerónimo Arroyo, is today the headquarters of the Castilla y León Accounting Council. From its façade, flanked by six large windows,  balconies of typically Palencia black wrought iron stand out. On the cornice, a garland carved in stone decorates the upper part. Two built-in towers at the ends of the main wall and of trapezoidal plan also provide an additional touch of greatness. The towers (three stories each) open plain windows with white and colored glass. The upper part of these towers is closed with two small slate domes topped by pinnacles.
