Convent of the Agustinas Canónigas
Religious building that houses some municipal offices in what previously was the convent
Calle Mayor houses the remains of this unique convent complex. The date of arrival of this congregation in the city is uncertain, although some documents date this episode in the late sixteenth century. The rooms were renovated at the beginning of the 20th century by the architect Jerónimo Arroyo following a Neo-Lateral aesthetic. The building preserves its stone doorway with a semicircular arch flanked by columns. Today, the convent houses the offices of the City Council. The church, consecrated to San Agustín, shows a classic structure of two bodies topped by a pediment.
