Traditional Carnival festivities

The Carnival festivals were deeply rooted and traditional in many of the Castilian towns and municipalities. Mojigangas, costumes, good humor and dances were, for centuries, its main ingredients. All with a single objective: fun. For years, the Carnivals have gained new momentum and, in the three days preceding the beginning of Lent, the streets and squares of the capital are animated by parades and parades dressed in the most suggestive costumes. The city lives these days in continuous celebration, marked by the contests, the traditional parade or the Burial of the sardine. Carnival, like any celebration, has its complement on the table. Traditional are the "hojuelas" (also called "orejuelas"), a typical sweet made with a thin spread dough fried and sprinkled with sugar or honey.
